Homewood Patriot Band

Abigail Powers is the director of the Homewood Patriot Color Guard and a Seventh grade Language Arts teacher at Homewood Middle School. In addition to the fall color guard, Mrs. Powers coordinates the spring spin club. She holds a BA in English and a BSE in Secondary Education from Samford University. She is working towards a Masters’ degree in Library and Information Science at the University of Alabama.

Mrs. Powers has worked with the color guard since 2020. Prior to her employment at Homewood, she performed with Music City Drum & Bugle Corps, Divenire Winterguard, the Samford University Color Guard, and the Hoover High School Color Guard. She has worked with several scholastic and independent color guards in Alabama and Georgia. In her spare time, Mrs. Powers enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with family.
