Homewood High School Patriot Band to Make History as First American Band in World’s Largest Flower Parade

The Homewood High School Patriot Marching Band is heading to the Netherlands to make history. Band Director Chris Cooper announced that the "Patriots" have been officially invited to perform in the 2027 Corso Zundert, the world’s largest and most prestigious flower parade. This performance will mark the first time in the event’s 90-year history that an American marching band has been selected to participate.

Founded in 1936 in the birthplace of Vincent van Gogh, Corso Zundert is a UNESCO-recognized cultural tradition featuring 20 massive, sculptural floats covered entirely in millions of dahlia blooms. While the parade regularly features elite show bands from across Europe, the selection of the Homewood Patriot Band underscores the program's global reputation for excellence and showmanship.

“This is an incredibly meaningful moment for our program,” said Director Chris Cooper. “While our students have marched on some of the world’s biggest stages, being the first American band to ever march the streets of Zundert is a distinct honor. It’s a reminder that the hard work our students put in every day in Homewood, Alabama, resonates on a global scale.
