Homewood Patriot Band

Darren Holbrooks majored in music performance at Jacksonville State University where he wrote and taught all percussion music for the Southerners Drumline.  He was the principal percussionist for the percussion, mallet and wind ensembles, and the vibraphonist for the JSU Jazz Band.  He marched snare drum with the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps in 1981, and has studied under Craig Biegler, Tom Float, Tracy Tyler and Dr. David Walters.  He has worked with over fifty high school percussion sections and taught privately for forty-two years.  In March of 2018 he taught percussion students at the international school in Tianjin China.  His drumlines have never received below a superior rating and have won numerous individual, sectional and full-line first-place awards.  Many of his students have performed with the All-State Band, received college music scholarships, performed throughout the United States and Europe with bands and world-champion drum & bugle corps, and have established careers in the field of music performance or music education.
