Peyton Rice
Assistant Director of Middle School Bands; Assistant HS Director
Department:Peyton Rice is a percussionist and music educator who earned his bachelor’s degree in music education from Auburn University. A graduate of Auburn High School, he was an active member of the Auburn High School Marching Band where he performed as a percussionist, including snare drum and drum set.
While attending Auburn University, Mr. Rice marched snare drum in the Auburn University Marching Band for four years and performed as a drumset player in the basketball pep band. In addition to his marching experience, he performed in several university ensembles including percussion ensemble, steel band, and Symphonic Winds, where he served as principal chair percussionist. In 2023, Symphonic Winds toured Spain and performed multiple concerts throughout the country.
Throughout his time at Auburn, Mr. Rice represented the Auburn University Marching Band on national platforms including appearances on Good Morning America and the NCAA March Madness tournament. He also gained extensive teaching experience working with several high school drumlines across Alabama and Georgia.
In 2026, he helped lead Auburn High School’s indoor drumline to the WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio, where the ensemble placed 11th in the world.
Mr. Rice is passionate about music education and is excited to join the Homewood Patriot Band staff, where he looks forward to helping students grow as musicians, performers, and leaders.
